Flying Ship
Half-boat, half-plane the Airfish 8 skims over the sea faster than any yacht, yet uses far less fuel than plane or helicopter. This sci-fi looking prototype was 13 years in the making and it’s Malaysian backers hope it will bring ground-effect flying into the mainstream. The Airfish relies on a quirk of physics that allows it to ‘fly’ just a few metres above the waves floating on a cushion of air. Exploding this flying ship apart with CGI reveals a powerful V8 straight from a muscle car, twin propellers and a reverse delta wing that scoops air.
