The Heist
The
Heist is a mainstay of the film industry, but how does a real life
crime caper live up to the Hollywood glitz? This programme pits 5 real
life ocean's 11 against the high tech security surrounding a painting,
a race horse and a sports car.
The gang consists of 5 former criminals - a reformed gangster, an
ex-computer hacker, a penitent jewellery thief, a retired extortionist
and a reformed armed robber. In each case the 'heist' is done with the
co-operation of the owners but the security teams are unaware of the
gangs intentions.
"Now this is fun. Real criminals gather together to pull
off a different heist each week, starting with this attempt to nab a
valuable painting from a supposedly impregnable building.
Just for
once, a reality programme concept that truly delivers and this opening
episode builds up to an enthralling climax. What really makes the
show is the gang's terrific characters, particularly Peter Scott, a
modern day Raffles.
Looking back on 50 years of crime, he says,
'I've probably got a PhD in larceny.'
Entertainment with no
socially redeeming value whatsoever, but you won't want to miss a
minute"
