Kate Barker

Kate enjoys developing new formats and has directed a wide variety of programmes from observational documentaries, arts and drama to reality TV.

After working as a Print Journalist, Kate trained on the BBC’s TAP scheme and spent six years at the BBC, mainly in documentaries.

Her past directing credits include Taking Liberties, Superhuman (with Robert Winston), The Late Show, The Day Britain Turned Disco, and two RTS award-winning documentaries, Tales from the Wasteland (October Films) and Last Orders (Evans Woolfe).

At Windfall, Kate has directed history productions for Commando and Rush and science series like The Anatomists. She has also developed new formats including the drama/documentary hybrid Born With Two Mothers.

Kate series produced/directed Generals at War, The Love Trap and Geordies Overboard.  She is currently executive producing Murder Trial for C4, for which she spent two years negotiatiing access to put a multi-camera rig in court to film murder trials – a television first in the UK.
